BBO

Building Better Opportunities

Client Testimonials

I have not felt this good in years
Thank you for listening, I normally find it hard to talk but here it is easy
You really do what you say, it is hard to believe

BBO explained

The National Lottery Community Fund and the European Social Fund are funding projects that tackle poverty and promote social inclusion. This fund is called BBO, Building Better Opportunities. Red Spark Learning put forward a project that has been accepted as part of that funding.
Our project was based on our understanding that accessing support and opportunities for learning and employment can be difficult, particularly in small market towns and their outlying villages. Without support many feel alone, isolated and helpless to change their situation or become frustrated and despondent trying.

How we can help

We understand that there are issues that simply get us down and can dominate our thoughts, because of this we have a support worker to assist with a variety of these worrying issues such as debt management, housing and benefit appeals. (He recently gained a £900 bank refund for a learner who was worried by a £300 debt. What a hero!)

What we know is looking for work can be terrifying and demoralising but you do not have to face it alone. We have a key worker who specialises in finding local work opportunities and she helps with CV’s, application forms, interview techniques and anything else you need to get that job. And she is pretty good at cheering you up when it all gets too much. (BBO Herefordshire already have one hundred and sixty seven clients now receiving pay cheques.)

And finally we have a key worker that specialises in learning. She can support you to find the courses you want, to build a better future. She is supported by a team of tutors to help you upskill and raise your confidence by trying out new things. During the Covid 19 restrictions we will simply be delivering these courses online.

How it works normally:

In the pre pandemic days our clients would visit us, have a cup of tea or coffee and we would work on solutions to any barriers they were facing. Our job was to work for our clients helping them to achieve their aims.

How it works now:

While we are dealing with the pandemic we are all working remotely, so this means you have to make your own cup of tea or coffee but we are still here to help you resolve any issues that are holding you back and give you any support you need to help you move forward, just call, txt or email.
