Maths

The building blocks to a better future

Student Testimonial

"After losing my job, due to covid 19 back in July 2020, Red Spark Learning came to my rescue in offering me the opportunity to access the Maths course. All my adult life I've been embarrassed that my maths ability was barely primary school age, I didn't think anyone could teach me successfully.
When my first lesson approached I was so nervous, my Tutor was so kind and gave me so much one to one help when she could.
I found myself by the end of each lesson sitting with a big grin on my face as I finally understood what she was talking about. I look forward to each lesson now, enthused that I'm going to come away with new mathematical knowledge.
I cannot express enough how much I enjoy my maths classes, and my big grin is contagious as my Tutor and class mates are so thrilled for me too. Thankyou so much."   ~   Joanna

Maths Qualifications

If you don't feel confident with maths or just need qualifications to improve your prospects you have come to the right place.
Our Accredited Maths courses are free to anyone who has not already obtained a level 2 in Maths, and was over 19 years of age on the 31st August 2020 and lives in Herefordshire.

Coping with Covid

Currently due to the Covid 19 pandemic we are delivering all our courses online through our virtual learning platform, or VLE, Moodle. If you would like to improve your Maths but do not have the technology to access our Moodle site or have accessibility issues, please contact us and we will work on finding a solution with you.

Studying with RSL

Our Maths lessons run for three hours per lesson and are on Wednesdays and Fridays, running both in the morning and in the afternoon. Our qualifications start at E1 (very basic) and go up to a L2 (GCSE standard). We assess our students to ensure they study at the appropriate level with the average for obtaining a qualification being over a 17 week period.

How it works normally:

In the pre pandemic days we would hold classes in Hereford and Leominster and students would come every week to build up their skills. When they were ready, they would sit an exam and then, if they wanted to, progress to the next level. We are looking forward to returning to classroom delivery and meeting you all, however, our primary concern is keeping all our students safe.

How it works now:

Now students log on at their appointed lesson time every week and see, listen and talk with the tutor on our learning platform. The tutor will teach you the skills you need and set you tasks on the learning platform. (You can also talk with the other students). Your quizzes and assignments are marked and if you don't succeed the first time, you can try again.
